No Windows Help on Windows Vista
Applies to: Installation on Windows Vista only.
ZSimpWin V3.20 and earlier versions.
When the [Help | Contents] Menu is clicked, the following error message will be displayed on the screen:

Microsoft Update (KB917607) - did
not work
The
Windows Help (WinHlp32.exe) program is no longer included with Windows operating
system starting with Windows Vista (Knowledge
Base, KB917607).
Microsoft released an optional update (click
here for further information) on
March 9, 2007. We visited this Microsoft Web site, downloaded
the update, and installed the update following the instruction. Installation
of the this update replaced the dummy winhlp32.exe file (9,216 bytes)
with a Replaced
the Windows The
XP SP2 version of winhlp32.exe file (283,648
bytes) and Windows Vista version of WinHlp32.exe
file (296,960 bytes) are different. It was found that the XP
SP2 version of winhlp32.exe
worked properly as intended. Because
of file protections in Windows Vista, it requires
some efforts to replace the buggy 1.
Obtain a copy of the XP SP2 version (283,648
bytes) from a working XP PC.
